The original chimney was exactly the same size, but it was facing the wrong direction. Due to this old orientation, the L-shaped fireplace insert was "hidden" or misaligned with the arrangement of the sofas and furniture, causing the view of the fire to be lost in the room.
Equipment Rotation: The old L-shaped stove was removed and the new one was installed facing the correct direction, aligned with the main area of the room.
Reconstruction of the Detour: To accommodate this new orientation, the chimney base and internal pipes were rebuilt and redirected to the correct side.
New Range Hood: The new external structure was built with the front and side of the "L" perfectly positioned to where the room unfolds.
After: The Result
Smart Space: By changing the direction, the fireplace stopped being an obstruction and now fits perfectly into the room's circulation.
Perfect Visibility: The fire is now directed towards where people actually sit (living area/sofas), greatly enhancing the ambiance.
Correct Geometry: The chimney is now visually integrated with the house's architecture, appearing as if it was always intended to be in that position.
